Many of you have asked about this, and I am happy to report my latest book has just been released in electronic format at both Amazon and at the iBooks store. Now you have no excuse for not reading it! (Also, it’s my birthday today, so you should feel obliged to propitiate me.)

Remember: John Kretschmer, one of the most popular bluewater authors of our generation, has called The Sea Is Not Full “ONE OF THE BEST SAILING BOOKS” he’s read in a long time. “More than that,” he continued, “it’s one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. [Doane’s] revelations of being at sea recall the spirit of Moitessier.”

Inside this book you will find the following:

Lots of practical advice, including hot tips on heavy weather sailing and how to equip a boat for bluewater cruising without spending too much money

Exciting personal anecdotes, including the story of the loss and abandoning of a classic Alden schooner

And the abandoning of a modern catamaran

And a cruise up an African river

junk raft

And one-on-one profiles of intriguing mariners, like the famous raft voyager Poppa Neutrino, who sailed across the Atlantic in a pile of junk (literally)

And Don Street, among others

You’ll also find answers to intriguing metaphysical questions like: why do seashells look like low-pressure systems???

All this, and so much more. DON’T HESITATE. Download your copy today!

    Dear Charles,

I am a regular reader of your blog and I am looking forward to reading your book. It was just downloaded on my Kindle.

I am also a sailing aficionado trying to reach French Polynesia in stages. My boat, Antares a Bristol 40, is currently in Turks and Caicos. I will be returning there in early November to sail to Grenada, and from there to Panama…

In case you are interested, I have been documenting my travels here:

    Feliz Cumpleaños
